
According to the results of March 2024, JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" transported 16 million tons of cargo. This is 10% more than in February of this year and 31% more than in March 2023.
According to TTS with reference to JSC UZ, last month 5.3 million tons of cargo were transported through port stations, of which 2.7 million tons were grain. Through the western border crossings, 3.4 million tons of cargo were transported by rail, of which only 484,000 tons were grain.
A total of 8 million tons of cargo were transported by rail for export in March, of which 3.2 million tons were grain cargo. In general, 51% of all cargoes were transported for export. It increased by 53.7% until March 2023.
7 million tons were transported in domestic traffic in March, which is 11% more than in March 2023. Import transportation increased by 65% until March 2023 and amounted to 808.3 thousand tons.
Note, for comparison, that in March 2020 (during the pandemic, in quarantine conditions and in the absence of passenger traffic), UZ transported 26.6 million tons of cargo. This was 6.6% less than in March 2019.
As for the current moment, in February 2024 "Ukrzaliznytsia" transported 14.5 million tons of cargo in all types of connections, in January - 14.1 million tons. In February, ore transportation accounted for the largest share in the structure of export transportation, ahead of grain cargoes.
