Abundant precipitation fell in the Upper Danube basin. The water level gradually rose in the upper and then in the middle section of the river.
Currently, the water levels on the entire Danube are working, the fleet is loaded at a full draft of 2.50-2.70 meters. We hope that such conditions will remain in the future!
Thanks to favorable conditions, the UDP increases the number of caravans on the Middle Danube. In September, the company started a pilot project - our barge caravans deliver ore from Ukraine to Serbia, load grain on the way back and head to Constanta with it.
The flight is long and difficult. However, this is an opportunity to work under long-term contracts and maximally load the fleet with work. The first UDP caravans with grain are already descending to Constanta.
- Odesa ports are open again, and this partially relieved the Danube ports. Therefore, as planned, we are increasing the number of the fleet on the Middle Danube. For the first time, UDP exports both Ukrainian grain and grain from EU countries. Our entire fleet is at work. After modernization, our logistics complex for transshipment of grain is increasing. Our sustainable development strategy, which includes seeersification of logistics flows, creation of complex logistics chains, long-term direct contracts, has fully justified itself, - says Deputy General Director of UDP Vladyslav Belakh.
We will remind that the navigation was closed on October 10 due to the drop in the water level in the Danube.
UDP caravans were forced to load at a lower draft, which affected the volume of transportation. Compared to work under normal conditions, loading of ore amounted to 1,100 tons per barge instead of 1,500-1,600 tons. Barges with grain were loaded at a draft of no more than 2.10 meters instead of the usual 2.30-2.50 meters.
However, UDP fulfilled all obligations to clients.
