Russia has been finally excluded from the ICAO Council, - Kubrakov

During the 41st session of the Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Russia was not re-elected to the governing body of this organization - the ICAO Council, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov, reported, writes CTS.

"From the start of the full-scale invasion until today, the Ministry of Infrastructure continues to work on the complete infrastructural isolation of the Russian Federation. A country that has carried out armed aggression against Ukraine and kills civilians has no place in the civilized world. A country that steals foreign planes and gives orders to the crew of a missile complex" Buk" to destroy a civilian plane, has no place among the civilized world. ICAO's decision to exclude Russia from the Council confirms this once again. It is important that such isolation is total, and Russia does not have the opportunity to influence the work of any international organization," he emphasized .

It is noted that the exclusion of Russia from the governing body of ISAO is also the result of a gross violation by the aggressor of the Chicago Convention, which establishes the basic requirements and regulations for international aviation.

As you know, on June 15, 2022, Russia received a significant flight safety remark as part of the ISAO surveillance program for the implementation of double registration of aircraft stolen from leasing companies and the flight of the specified aircraft in international airspace without Airworthiness Certificates.

"This is an unacceptable violation of international requirements and standards and is extremely dangerous for people's lives and health," Kubrakov added.

The International Civil Aviation Organization is a specialized agency of the UN and is engaged in the organization and coordination of international cooperation of states in all aspects of civil aviation activities.

About 190 countries are members of ISAO, including Ukraine. The ISAO Council is a permanent governing body and consists of 36 countries elected by the Assembly for a three-year term.
