Prime Minister: more than 660 ships have already passed through the new grain corridor, transporting about 20 million tons of cargo

The Ukrainian maritime logistics corridor has been operating for half a year after the blockade of the Black Sea was lifted and Ukrainian maritime trade was activated. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the Government meeting on February 6.

"More than 660 ships have already passed through the new grain corridor, transporting about 20 million tons of cargo to 32 countries of the world. 70% of these cargoes are agricultural products of our agricultural producers," said the head of the Government.

In parallel with this, according to the Prime Minister, it was possible to launch a project on insurance of Ukrainian exports against war risks. We are talking about the insurance of ships that enter our ports.

As Denys Shmyhal pointed out, in January Ukraine reached pre-war volumes of exports by sea, and the total volume of exports is already approaching the indicators that existed before the full-scale invasion. Last month, in monetary terms, total Ukrainian exports amounted to 3.1 billion dollars, of which 1.9 billion dollars were sea exports.

"This helps us accumulate internal resources. After all, every hryvnia that comes to the budget from export trade goes to defense. For better support of the military, for drones and ammunition, for innovative military defense products and much more," the Head of Government emphasized.

The Prime Minister thanked the Ukrainian military for the safety of Black Sea logistics, Ukrainian entrepreneurs for economic activity that strengthens the state, as well as partners who supported insurance projects.
