03 August
2023

The Parliament of Moldova ratified the Agreement on the construction of a road bridge across the Dniester River in the area of the cities of Koseuci-Yampil.

This is written by TTS with reference to Rublika.

Andrii Spinu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova, said that according to studies, approximately 4,600 passenger and freight vehicles will be able to use this bridge every day, and by 2041, their number may reach 10,200 per day.

"This means more mobility, more development of trade and economy on both banks of the Dniester. The idea of building this bridge was initiated by the Soroki District Council and the authorities of the Vinita region back in 2012. In a little more than 10 years, we made the necessary efforts and in a short period of time achieved the signing and ratification of the agreement," the official said.

We will remind you that the agreement on the construction of the border crossing over the Dniester was signed on June 12, 2023 by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine - meOleksandr Kubrakov, former Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova, Lilia Dabizha, Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure.

The Yampil bridge will become an alternative to the ferry crossing at the Yampil-Koseut border crossing, which has not been operating for several years and has long since failed to meet the requirements of the times and the real needs of the residents of both states. Also, the bridge will allow to unload the international crossing point "Mohyliv-Podilskyi - Otach", through which almost the entire transport flow between Ukraine and Moldova passes.

The total length of the bridge is 1400 meters. The artificial structure will have 2 lanes of traffic with sidewalks on both sides.

The bridge project also takes into account barrier-free standards, in particular, it provides for the installation of sidewalks with a lowering of the side stone level within pedestrian crossings. Warning tactile strips are provided to guide visually impaired people.
