Revenues of the transport artery decreased by 60% in the reporting period.
The number of ships passing through the Suez Canal in January-September 2024 decreased by 49% compared to the same period last year.
According to TTS, this was announced by the head of the Suez Canal administration, Usami Rabia.
For this reason, the income of the transport artery decreased by 60% in the reporting period.
During the fiscal year from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, almost 25,900 ships passed through the canal, last fiscal year (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024) the figure decreased to 20,140.
Revenues fell from $9.4 billion to $7.2 billion.
The main reason was the aggravation of the situation in the Red Sea at the end of last year.
