Meetings of the Export Office (EO) at the UZ.

On August 14, 2024, another meeting of the Export Office (EO) at the Board of Directors was held in the premises of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia".

The meeting was attended by the management of the cargo vertical of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" (CD), heads of CTL, SDG and more than 50 representatives of companies, business and industry associations, shippers from various sectors of the economy of Ukraine (participation in online and offline format) !

Regarding the total volume of cargo transportation:

According to operational data, during July 2024, 13.61 million tons of cargo were transported by rail (+1.46 million tons or +12% compared to the volume of July 2023).

In January-July 2024, 103.86 million tons were transported by rail (+21.19 million tons or +25.6% compared to the same period in 2023).

This is a record indicator of the volume of cargo transportation for 7 months (January-Julyj) by rail transport during wartime!

Regarding the volume of cargo transportation in the export package:

During July 2024, 6.39 million tons were transported by rail in the export conjunct (+3.08 million tons or a 2.1-fold increase compared to July 2023).

In total, in 7 months of 2024, 51.77 million tons were transported by railway in export mode (+19.63 million tons or +62.3% by January-July 2023).

This is a record volume of cargo transportation in the export combination for January-July (7 months) by railway during wartime!

The reason for the significant increase in export shipments is the effective operation of the Ukrainian cargo export corridor through the ports of Great Odesa and the recovery of the Ukrainian economy as a whole!

Regarding the structure of cargo transportation in July 2024 by cargo nomenclature:

In the structure of export transportation of goods by rail for July 2024

in the first place - iron ore, manganese - 2.64 million tons (41.2% share of ore cargoes in the total volume of export shipments);

the second place was occupied by grain cargoes - 2.131 million tons (33.3% share in export shipments);

in third place - Ministry of Construction Materials - 0.481 million tons (share of 7.5% in export shipments).

We have a record monthly shipment for export:

Ministry of construction materials - 481 thousand tons (export of Ministry of construction materials increased by 4.3 times until January 2024).

cement - 167 thousand tons. This is the largest indicator of the monthly volume of cement transportation for export for the period 2021-2024.

ferrous metals - 467 thousand tons. This is the best indicator of the monthly volume of transportation of ferrous metals in 2024.

Useful information for shippers announced at the meeting:

Those present were informed about the progress of implementation of Resolution of the CMU #581 dated 17.05.2024 regarding the provision of a -30% discount to the tariff for the export of agricultural products from communities close to hostilities (according to the list of more than 250 railway stations).

Already transported to export stations - 6055 wagons (5093 wagons - grain; 288 wagons - oil; 357 wagons - meal; 317 wagons - seeds).

We encourage senders to take advantage of the discount provided by the government, the limit of funds is limited!

As of August 14, 2024, more than UAH 105 million have already been used within the framework of the Resolution of the CMU, including UAH -74.4 million for the transportation of agricultural products.

JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" continues to conclude contracts for the provision of cargo transportation services with agreed terms and volumes in the Carrier's own wagons.

We invite senders to contact JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" regarding the conclusion of the specified contracts!

Those present were informed about the implementation of UZ Cargo Poland, CTS "Lisky" and CD of work on expansion of the client base and search for exporters/importers interested in the transportation of goods by rail through western land crossings (export/import).

Interested companies were invited to contact UZ Cargo Poland, TTS Liski.

JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" sent proposals to MIU regarding the improvement of the tariff system, simplification/unification of the system of tariff formation for the transportation of goods by railway!

MIU is currently working on these proposals! In the near future, it is planned to publish the proposal on the MIU website for public discussion!
