The IMO approved changes to the current traffic distribution systems to the ports of Greater Odessa
The Maritime Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) approved Ukraine's proposal to amend the existing traffic distribution systems "Approaches to the Ports of Odesa and Illichivsk" and "Between the Ports of Odesa and Illichivsk" by combining them into a single traffic distribution system "Approaches to the Ports Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdenny".
This is written by TTS with reference to the information of the Shipping Administration.
"The changes adopted by the IMO improve the system of established routes for the movement of vessels in the northwestern part of the Black Sea, bring the system of routes that functioned at the national level into compliance with the system of established routes adopted by the IMO and implemented at the international level, thereby completing the work of the specialists of the State Hydrography " and the Shipping Administration on the review of the systems for determining the routes of ships, carried out over the past few years," noted the head of the Shipping Administration Vitaliy Kindrativ.
The proposal adopted by the IMO makes certain changes to the existing parts of the traffic distribution system (TDS) in order to increase the level of safety of shipping and to eliminate the differences between the TDS that were in force at the national level and the TDS adopted by the IMO in 1981.
The changes also update such data as the WGS 84 coordinate system, the name of the SRR, the numbering and names of parts of the SRR, the names of some ports, marine navigation charts. The updated SRR establishes the safest routes in the deepest waters for vessels going to and from the Ukrainian ports of Chornomorsk, Odesa , South, as well as in the direction of Mykolaiv and Kherson ports.
The SRR is designed in such a way as to simplify traffic flow patterns in the arrival/divergence zones and to organize the movement of ships entering/leaving from three ports - Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdenny in the most optimal way.
