An agreement was signed between Georgia and Bulgaria on the renewal of the railway ferry service.

It is noted that the preparatory work for the restoration of the ferry service has been underway since the beginning of 2024.
The management of JSC "Georgian Railway" held a meeting with the Georgian shipping company E60 Shipping Line and Bulgarian Railways (BDZ) in the city of Sofia.
The parties agreed on the terms of cooperation regarding the restoration of normal railway ferry service, which was stopped two years ago.
The AIA ferry will fly between the ports of Georgia and the Bulgarian port of Varna under the Georgian flag.
"It should be noted that the rail-ferry connection between the ports of Georgia and Bulgaria will play an important role in strengthening direct transport connections with Europe through the Black Sea," the message reads.
It is expected that the resumption of transportation will allow to attract additional cargo flows to the specified ports, which will increase the efficiency of the Middle Corridor.
