Among these projects, the preparation of a strategy for the development of Eurotracks of the Lviv railway junction is also foreseen.
"Ukrzaliznytsia" expects in June this yearto the results of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) project competition, which should approve the financing of projects for the development of railway crossing points with the European Union for more than 80 million euros. Among them, the preparation of the strategy for the development of Eurotracks (1435 mm wide) of the Lviv railway junction is also foreseen.
The proposal refers to the preparation for the implementation of the project on the development of the Lviv railway hub, taking into account the prospects of expanding the railway network of the 1435 mm track width of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) on the territory of Ukraine.
The planned duration of the project is 2024-2027.
Other proposals include the preparation of a feasibility study for the introduction of a 1435 mm track on the Chop-Lviv section, reconstruction of railway structures with the construction of a 1435 mm track and electrification of the Lviv - Chernivtsi - Vadul-Siret - Derzhkordon, Pavlovo-2 / Matyovtse - Uzhhorod section.
It will be recalled that the Central Railway Station wrote that "Ukrzaliznytsia" failed to attract funds under the EU Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program for the construction of a railway section of the European standard of 1435 mm from the Polish border to Lviv on the Mostysk-Sknylyv section.
"As for Mostysk-Sknylyv, we are ready. We are at a low start, we have ready project documentation, everything is ready for this, but... CEF, they have not confirmed the intention to finance Mostysk-Sknylyv", - said the chairman of the board of JSC UZ Yevhen Lyashchenko Regarding the alternative option of attracting financing for this project, he added: "We found... We have already signed 50% of the project with USAID. They confirmed the allocation of funds, but took additional time to study the project documentation. Now they are studying, our teams are already somewhere a month and a half in such close contact."
It will be recalled that in the summer of 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia informed that the European Union would invest in the development of Ukraine's railway infrastructure, in particular, funds would be provided within the framework of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) financial instrument for the development of border crossings with Poland, Romania, the Slovak Republic and Hungary.
Last December, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will help modernize the section from Mostyska station, which is located on the border with Poland, to Lviv (Sknyliv). In particular, it was stated that the partnership between UZ and USAID will provide financing for the construction of the new site in the total amount of 225 million dollars.
Recently, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction - Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov announced that the construction of the Mostysk-Lviv Eurotrack railway will start in 2024.
On February 27, the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure commented that "Ukrzaliznytsia" expects to learn the results of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) project competition in the summer of 2024, which should approve the financing of railway crossing development projects with the European Union for more than 80 million euros. Among these projects, the preparation of a strategy for the development of Eurotracks (1,435 mm wide) of the Lviv railway junction is also foreseen.
