People's deputy, member of the VRU Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy Dmytro Solomchuk stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine - Ukrinform.
"We are waiting for the decision of the European Union to allocate a fairly large amount of money to buy back some part of Ukrainian grain from Ukrainian farmers so that they have funds for sowing and payments for shares. Today we are talking about 1 billion euros. Let's see what decision they will make . But it is very important that the state buys the crop with European funds," he said.
Solomchuk noted that such support will allow Ukrainian farmers to receive funds for further work.
As reported, in May 2023, the European Commission banned the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania at the insistence of these countries. The ban was imposed for a month and extended on June 5 until September 15, 2023.
The Ukrainian authorities insist that if the European Commission continues the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain after September 15, Ukraine may consider mirror measures. At the same time, some of the initiators of this ban, in particular Poland, declare that they will continue to restrict the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, even if the European Commission decides to cancel it.
