Earlier, a container carrier agreement was signed with the municipality of Hamburg.
The European Commission has granted permission to the Swiss container carrier Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) to acquire almost half of the shares of Hamburg's largest port operator HHLA Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA).
It will be recalled that MSC, one of the world's largest container carriers, signed an agreement with the municipality of Hamburg, which allows the company to buy up to 49.9% of the shares in HHLA, while Hamburg will retain a 50.1% stake.
