The EU is working on increasing the capacity of solidarity corridors

30 August
2023

The European Commission is going to intensify the work of the joint Coordination Group, which deals with the export of Ukrainian food "by means of solidarity".

Miriam Garcia Ferrer, spokeswoman for the European Commission on Agriculture and Trade, said this at a briefing in Brussels, Ukrinform reports.

"The Platform meeting was held yesterday to discuss again what are the possibilities to increase the capacity of the 'solidarity routes', what are the alternative routes and the financial possibilities to improve transport connections. We will hold (such meetings — ed.) more often until September 15 in order to have good results that will ensure the proper operation of this system," the spokeswoman said.

This week, the working group of the European Commission will go to Romania and assess the possibility of increasing the capacity of Romanian ports to 4 million tons of Ukrainian grain per month.

Also, Miriam Garcia Ferrer reminded that the blocking of the export of Ukrainian agricultural products should be stopped after September 15, at the same time, the transit of these goods to other European and world markets continues.
