The European Union should not make any concessions to the Russian Federation in order to continue the Black Sea Grain Initiative and allow a sanctioned Russian bank to re-establish its connection with the global financial network.
As TTS writes with reference to Ports of Ukraine, this opinion was expressed by Olga Trofimtseva, ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on special assignments, coordinator of the Council of Exporters and Investors.
"According to the Financial Times, the European Union is thinking of making concessions to Russia (Russian Federation) and offering an option for their "Rosselkhozbank" (the creation of a branch, for example, which can be connected to SWIFT), in order to somehow contribute to the extension of the grain agreement. On the one hand - any opportunities for agro-export are good. On the other hand, to make concessions to the blackmailer is to encourage him to blackmail further. This is a well-known axiom: the blackmailer does not stop if you fulfill his demands. He just invents new excuses for blackmail" - wrote Olga Trofimtseva in Telegram.
Earlier it was reported that the European Union is considering the possibility of allowing a Russian sanctioned bank to create a subsidiary that will be able to connect to the international interbank system for transferring information and making payments Swift.
Also, the day before, on July 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that "there are no grounds for the further continuation of the Black Sea Initiative, which ends on July 17."
