The cargo turnover of the Danube ports in 2023 amounted to more than 29 million tons

In 2023, cargo traffic through the Danube ports will exceed 29 million tons, Yuriy Lytvyn, the head of the SE "Seaports Administration of Ukraine", announced during a meeting of the team of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine with heads of diplomatic missions and the public.

"In the conditions of the unstable security situation in the Black Sea, the Danube ports remained one of the most reliable export routes. That is why a large part of the efforts was directed at optimizing the operation of these ports," he noted.

According to Lytvyn, in 2023, more than 29 million tons of cargo passed through the Danube ports. "This is an increase of almost 6 times compared to the pre-war period," added the head of AMPU.

Also, the number of ship calls doubled - 13,045 units compared to 8,944 in 2022.

"Together with business, we launched 23 transshipment points in 2023, we are implementing another 15 such investment projects in the ports of Izmail and Reni. During 2022-2023, operational dredging in the amount of 3.33 million cubic meters was carried out, which helped to significantly increase the number of passing ships. The number of pilots has increased. In the port of Reni, 22 sea vessels and 40 barges were located at the berths at the same time," Lytvyn concluded.
