In some places, these are simply transshipment hubs without storage capacity.

Over the past two years, about three dozen companies have received permits to create railway infrastructure for transshipment terminals near the border. 7 logistics points are already in operation, 12 more are under construction. Such data were announced at the AGRO UKRAINE SUMMIT conference.

The commercial director of "Almeida Group" LLC Mykhailo Kudukhashvili said that there are several terminals at almost all railway "junctions" with the EU. "Today, 2-3 or even 4 terminals are being built or have already been built at almost every "junction", both on the territory of Ukraine and on the neighboring territories of the EU countries. 70 percent of them were built already after a full-scale invasion" , - noted Kudukhashvili.

According to Valery Tkachov, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia", there are currently 16 transshipment terminals in Ukraine that can process grain cargoes, with a total transshipment capacity of 1,186 grain wagons per day.

There are also 40 logistics hubs in neighboring countries near the border. On the territory of Poland - 13, Romania - 9, Hungary - 11, Slovakia - 7. In total, these are 56 terminals that handle grain products.

"The amount of investment that is currently being invested in the infrastructure on the border is quite large. We can even say that all infrastructure opportunities on the border plus or minus have already been used, and they are now being brought to their maximum capacity," Kudukhashvili noted.

Both large terminals and simple transshipment hubs are being built on the border, even without storage capacity.

"Over the past two years, quite interesting cases have already appeared, implemented with minimal investments - 100-150 thousand dollars. They do not even have storage capacity, but transship 15-25 thousand tons per month. As for large ones, in We are currently building a facility in which shipment to the track with a capacity of 500 tons per hour is planned," said Bohdan Poperechny, director of AktivProekt.

As a reminder, TTS wrote that the terminal in Mostysk, located near the border with Poland, which was put into operation in the summer of 2022, is already attracting a new cargo flow - the company is launching a service for transshipment of mineral fertilizers.

"Lemtrans" and the company "Rail Trans Investment" acted as investors in the project to create a terminal, the company N'UNIT and "Levada-Cargo" - partners in the development of the container business. A grain terminal was also built as part of this project. In 2023, the terminal was equipped with pumping stations to handle bulk cargoes such as sunflower and soybean oil.
