FIATA documents and forms

On April 8, 1994 in Zurich, at the session of the FIATA Board, the UKRZOVNISHTRANS ASSOCIATION was accepted as a full member.

To implement FIATA recommendations in the work of forwarders, the UKRZOVNISHTRANS ASSOCIATION signed a License Agreement with FIATA on September 1, 1998, for the right to print and use FIATA documents among members of the association, and starting from 2025, a new License Agreement is in effect.

In accordance with the requirements of the License Agreement, on August 6, 1998, the Instructions for the Preparation and Use of FIATA Documents and Forms were approved, and in 2020, a new INSTRUCTION FOR THE PREPARATION AND USE OF FIATA DOCUMENTS AND FORMS came into effect.

Having their own documents, based on uniform standard conditions and recognized by official bodies, such as the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, the transport and forwarding companies of the UKRZOVNISHTRANS ASSOCIATION have important tools for improving the image of the forwarding profession.

Today, very satisfactory results have been obtained in the use of FIATA documents, they are requested for calculations, respected by many national and foreign banks, and are well appreciated in world trade.

FIATA documents regulate business relations between the forwarder and the cargo owner. The validity of these documents does not extend to the relations of the forwarder with carriers. The relations of the forwarder with carriers are regulated by the relevant transport documents stipulated by national and international transport conventions, laws, statutes and rules.

Copyright for FIATA forwarding documents belongs to the Secretariat. The FIATA Secretariat may grant this right to its national members under a license agreement. ASSOCIATION "UKRZOVNISHTRANS" as a national association - member of FIATA received permission from this federation to print and distribute FIATA documents among its members.

The first FIATA forwarding document began to be used in 1955

FIATA documents and forms are one of the main tools for facilitating trade when crossing borders. FIATA has developed several documents and forms to establish a single standard for forwarders around the world. Documents and forms are easily noticeable, as they have a characteristic color and bear the FIATA logo, which is visually easily identifiable.

Currently, the following FIATA documents and forms exist:

  • FIATA Multimodal Bill of Lading, negotiable - FBL );
  • FIATA Forwarders Certificate of Receipt (FIATA FCR );
  • FIATA Forwarders Certificate of Transport (FIATA FCТ );
  • FIATA Warehouse Receipt (FIATA Warehouse Receipt - FWR);
  • FIATA Non-negotiable Multimodal Transport Waybill (FIATA Non-negotiable Multimodal Transport Waybill - FWB);
  • FIATA Shipper's Declaration for the Transport of Dangerous Goods (FIATA SDT);
  • FIATA Shipper's Intermodal Weight Certificate (FIATA SIC);
  • FIATA Forwarding Instructions (FIATA FFI).

It is important to remember that FIATA documents and forms establish and regulate the relationship between the forwarder and the consignor. Their effect does not extend to the relationship between the forwarder and the carrier.

FIATA documents and forms are rightfully considered one of the main achievements of the global forwarding community, since they:

  • are the same for everyone;
  • recognized by the world banking system and accepted for payment by all banks;
  • create a single system of liability.

FIATA documents and forms are protected by copyrights belonging to FIATA.

ASSOCIATION "UKRZOVNISHTRANS" has the right to issue its Participants with FIATA document forms and forms.
