MEETING WITH THE ORGANIZATION FOR ECONOMIC COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT (OECD)

On April 11, the secretariat of the UKRZOVNISHTRANS ASSOCIATION held an online meeting with the Consultants of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), - International Transport Forum, Master of International Development at Sciences Po Paris, Maria Fossas and Olaf Merk, Senior Advisor and Project Manager.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Association, Oleg Platonov, and the General Director, Svitlana Naidenko.

During the meeting, representatives of the ASSOCIATION spoke about the current state, challenges and opportunities of work in sea and river ports of Ukraine during the war. The questions were answered: what immediate reconstruction priorities should be addressed, what policy or regulatory changes are necessary to increase the resilience and sustainability of Ukraine's maritime and inland waterway transport sector, what measures should be implemented to increase the efficiency, capacity and competitiveness of Ukrainian ports while reducing emissions, and what new maritime corridors could restore and expand Ukraine's connections with world markets?

The OECD experts were also interested in hearing the answer about the procedure for privatization of leases, concessions of ports, port infrastructure, terminals, berths that is taking place in Ukraine, and insurance during wartime.

At the end of the meeting, Maria Fossas reported that within the framework of the project, a seminar will be held in Leipzig on May 20, in which Ukrainian government officials, experts from ITF member countries, EU institutions, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society organizations will participate. The purpose of which is to discuss and clarify scenarios for the restoration of the transport sector of Ukraine in view of integration into the EU.
