Ukraine and Norway extended "transport visa-free"

30 August
2024

The liberalization of freight transportation concerns vehicles that meet the Euro-5 environmental standard and above.

The Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure and the Norwegian Ministry of Transport have agreed to liberalize freight transport between the countries until June 30, 2025. It is about the further implementation of bilateral and transit transportation between countries without permits.

The decision was made today, August 22, at a meeting of the specialized commission.

"Continuation of transport visa-free travel with Norway is another step towards the integration of Ukraine into the transport network of the European continent and a consistent policy of the Ministry to create favorable conditions for the work of Ukrainian business. Liberalization of transportation between our countries not only simplifies conditions for Ukrainian business, allowing transportation without additional permits, but also contributes to the development of our economy and strengthening of international ties. In addition to this decision, for the first time since 2002, we managed to agree on an increase in the number of permits for transportation to/from third countries by 40%," Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach said.

The liberalization of freight transport concerns vehicles that meet the Euro-5 environmental standard and above. During transportation, drivers are required to carry a certificate confirming the environmental class of their truck.

In addition, there must be an extract of the transport license on board the trucks.

We would like to remind you that Ukrainian carriers have access to "transport visa-free" with 37 countries, including the countries of the European Union. Over the past year, in addition to Norway, the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine also managed to agree on the liberalization of cargo transportation with North Macedonia, Turkey, Moldova, Georgia and Montenegro.
