The current ban on transportation for companies based in the Republic of Belarus will be extended. This will lead to a new type of control in the EU transport industry. Logist.Today learned about this from a message published on the portal of the Bialystok Tax Inspectorate.
According to the new rules that came into force on August 2, EU companies, at least 25% of which belong to a natural or legal person from the Republic of Belarus, will no longer be able to transport goods by road transport within the European Union, including for transit. This ban will not apply to motor transport companies owned by persons with dual citizenship or citizens of the Republic of Belarus, who have a temporary or permanent residence permit in a member state.
The new controls, carried out in particular at borders and on roads, are part of a new package of EU sanctions. Since July 26 of this year, similar rules have already been applied to motor transport companies, at least 25% of which belong to an individual or legal entity from the Russian Federation.
"The issue of the company's ownership structure will be analyzed during road traffic inspections by all authorized bodies specified in Art. 89 of the Law on Road Transport, including by employees of the customs and tax service. Entrepreneurs who carry out transport activities should take into account the need to provide documents confirming the ownership structure, both during transportation and during border crossing checks."
