
The volume of cargo transportation on the Trans-Caspian route increased by 64% in January-March 2023
"Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" JSC informs that the transportation of goods by rail transport on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM) shows positive dynamics, for January-March 2023, transportation on the TMTM route increased by 63.7% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 433.2 thousand tons. The largest increase of 2.7 times was in exports from Kazakhstan, import transportation also increased by 22%." The multimodal route connects a number of countries and requires several transshipments of goods through sea ports. Together with the participants of the route, measures are taken every day to improve the infrastructure, remove barriers, increase the capacity of the corridor and reduce the time of movement of goods. Today, tomato paste, chemicals, and equipment are being transported in containers from China to Southern Europe and Turkey, and containers of non-ferrous metals, ferroalloys, lentils, grain cargo, and much more are being loaded from Kazakhstan," says the head of JSC "KTZ Express" Kairat Utyapov: The development of the corridor is also facilitated by the implementation of large infrastructure projects along the route, including the construction of other railway tracks in the "Dostyk-Mointy" section, the container hub in the port of Aktau, the bypass railway line of the Almaty station.
